President Trump & The Military Airstrike on Syria 2

President Trump hit the button last night calling for military airstrikes on Syrian forces. The move was in retaliation against the chemical weapons attack that President Bashar Al-Assad intentionally unleashed, which caused harm to a majority of citizens, most being women and children. This is only the beginning, but what does this mean for American and Middle East relations going forward? Let’s discuss.

America has the strongest military force in the world. Nobody has the technology and innovation like the U.S. Military. Therefore, when a threat takes place in a foreign country, others look for the United States’ involvement. This is yet another example. The Syrian Civil War has been ongoing for the past six years. There have been thousands upon thousands of casualties. A constant debate that has been thrown around since the past two elections (2012 & 2016) has been the role that the U.S. should take.

A Tomahawk Missile was used for the first strike.

A majority of the country is all for air support without ground troops, while the minority takes the latter. Putting troops on the ground could be the answer, but war is expensive. In addition, we saw the fallout that the Iraq War caused during the 2000s when the economy was in a recession. Surely money is never an issue, especially when it comes to the government. The cash flow is run through them after all, ever heard of the Federal Reserve? So that raises the question, what are we as the strongest and most powerful country in the world going to do?

President Trump wasted no time. While he was boarding Air Force One he publicly stated in a brief media session that something must be done. Any country that is willing to threaten the wellbeing of their citizens with no strings attached will be dealt with accordingly. A few hours later, President Trump called for the airstrike and the military wasted no time. The backlash caused tension from Russian President Vladimir Putin, but praises from Middle East allies.

Is this the signal of a new war to come or was this a slap on the wrist to Syria? The country is now on the hit list because once America strikes once, you can bet that we will strike again. We will keep a close eye on the situation and update our readers in a timely manner.
