Description
USS Enterprise Warships of World War 2 75th Anniversary Coin for “The Big E“, she was the sixth aircraft carrier of the United States Navy. Launched in 1936, she was one of only three American carriers commissioned before World War II to survive the war (the others being Saratoga and Ranger). She battled in more major actions of the war against the Empire of Japan than any other United States warship. For these reason and many more we had to design this USS Enterprise Warships of World War 2 75th Anniversary Coin in honor of this amazing warship.
These actions included the attack on Pearl Harbor with her 18 Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bombers of her Air Group that arrived on the scene of the battle at Pearl Harbor making her aircraft and the ship the first to see combat in World War 2. This is just one of many historic stories that the Big E was involved in.
Her actions at the Battle of Midway turned the war, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, various other air-sea engagements during the Guadalcanal Campaign, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
