The US Army National Guard is a reserve military force composed of National Guard military members of each state, territory, and the District of Columbia. It operates under the dual authority of the state governor and the President of the United States, and can be called upon to assist during national emergencies or to support domestic law enforcement. The National Guard inspired our decision to create the Army National Guard Challenge Coin.
